Internationally Acclaimed Virtuoso Guitarist Gil Gutierrez Trio Announced At Birdland Theater

Watch the incredible Gil Gutierrez trio perform at the legendary Birdland Theater from June 3 – June 5, with two sets each evening at 7:00 and 9:30 with internationally renowned virtuoso guitarist and composer Gil Gutierrez David Rodriguez (bass) ) and with Robert Stern (violin).

Gil Gutierrez is a virtuoso who has mastered the nylon string guitar. He is known throughout the music industry as one of Mexico’s finest musicians, with an unimaginable artistry merging classical, jazz and flamenco. Gutierrez is revered among fellow musicians and has attracted many celebrities to his performances, many of whom have unintentionally jumped on stage to join his jam sessions. With Gutierrez on stage at Famous Birdland, New Jersey’s Dave Rodriguez (Honest Bass), a Grammy and Emmy nominated producer and performer. Rodriguez performs in venues ranging from Carnegie Hall to the Apollo Theater. He has worked with artists ranging from Max Roach to Tito Puente to the Rochester Philharmonic. He is currently the Executive Producer at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) in Newark, NJ.

Violinist Bob Stern performed with classical and pop artists, including Jerry Miller (Moby Grape), Charlie Pritchard and Laura Branigan.

At the age of fourteen he started playing classical guitar in restaurants. Oaxaca and German-born guitarist Wolfgang “Lobo” Fink of . attracted the attention of Willie and Lobo, At the age of 17, he teamed up with Fink to play in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. When Fink returned to Germany, Gutierrez went to Mexico City and studied jazz to earn money by playing guitar on city buses. The guitarist has played with it in South America and Spain. Anna Gabriel, Ricardo Arjona, Francisco Cespedes and Pedro Guerra. His works include the performance of his original compositions with the New York Choral Society and the scoring of several films including El Cochero, El Alcázar de Chapultepec and Una Causa Noble Gutierrez and created and performed the soundtrack for the documentary film Lost and Found in Mexico.
